Team Training: Your Dog & You
One-on-one training sessions brought to your doorstep. You learn along with your dog and the two of you practice under professional supervision. For those with a passion for the intricacies of leading-edge dog training methods, there’s nothing like learning the basics yourself and working toward becoming the skilled trainer of your own dog.
The Luxury Package: Your Dog, then You
If finding free time is an issue, we can teach your dog pleasant manners while you are away from home. Soon your pooch will no longer jump on visitors or sneak cookies from the coffee table when you’re not looking. We can also take your dog on training walks in the neighborhood to work on loose-leash walking, greeting strangers politely, leaving tempting food scraps on the street, and so on. Once your dog has mastered the curriculum, we transfer the handling responsibility to you in a hand-over session during where you learn the commands and how to use them effectively.
Board & Train: Residential program for toy breed dogs
The Cultured Canine can, in certain select cases, board toy breed dogs for the duration of their training program. Dogs chosen for this program stay in a separate, luxuriously equipped room in the trainer’s home and work daily on developing excellent manners. As their manners develop, dogs spend time enjoying all of the privileges worthy of a Cultured Canine (belly rubs on the sofa, lying politely in a cushy dog bed in the dining room during meals, mingling at parties). After graduation, your dog’s new skills are transitioned into his own home through a hand-over session where you learn the cues and how to use them effectively. For an exterior to properly match your freshly schooled, urbane pet, we’ll happily arrange a trip to a stylish groomer before returning him to you. Behavior Programs
Home Alone Training:
Separation anxiety is a serious and heart-breaking behavioral disorder which often worsens if left untreated. Common symptoms include panting, whining, and shaking as the owner prepares to leave the house, self-mutilation (e.g. chewing on paws), and destruction of windows and doors while alone. The Cultured Canine offers tailor-made separation anxiety protocols for owners whose dogs suffer with this challenging condition. Our sophisticated program includes gradual desensitization, careful management, and, in some cases, medication under veterinary prescription and supervision, as well as on-going support during the implementation phase.
City Living Consultations
Not all next-door neighbors or apartment owners appreciate the wonders of canine ownership, but apply a little understanding and finesse and that can change. The Cultured Canine specializes in strategies for working with landlords, realtors, and rental agencies, addressing city living issues such as minimizing barking, enchanting anyone met on narrow staircases, and politely passing other dogs.
